Overview of NDCs
For definitions of carbon credit/debt and other terms please refer to the definitions on the homepage
Include industrialized countries that were members of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) in 1992, and countries categorised as economies in transition (the EIT Parties).
Abbreviations of GreenHouse Gases
CO2- Carbon dioxide, CH4- Methane, N2O- Nitrous Oxide, HFCs- Hydrofluorocarbons, PFCs- Perfluorocarbons, SF6-Sulphur hexafluoride, NF3- Nitrogen trifluoride
Fair share of RCB; 50% prob for 1.5ºC
This is the fair share for each country of only the Remaining Carbon Budget (RCB) for limiting temperature rise to 1.5 ºC with a 50% probability. Values are given in GtCO2eq.
Fair share of RCB; 50% prob for 2ºC
This is the fair share of each country of the Remaining Carbon Budget (RCB) for limiting temperature rise to 2.0 ºC with a 50% probability. Values are given in GtCO2eq.
Note for EU countries
The EU and its Member States have also committed to an umbrella target of 55% reduction in GHGs by the year 2030 as compared to 1990. Emissions reduction targets under current EU legislation are divided between three categories:
- The sectors covered by the EU Emission Trading System (EU ETS)
- Non-ETS sectors under the Effort Sharing Regulation (ESR)
- Land-use related emissions and removals addressed by the regulation on emissions and removals from Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF). Non-ETS sectors concern emissions from sectors not included in the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), such as transport, buildings, agriculture and waste sectors.
Details of NDCs are based on the NDC submission of each country to the UNFCCC. The source file for country NDC appears in the text pop-up box when a country is clicked.
